All are welcome to join us for a group hike to Thunderbird Falls! This is an easy, family-friendly hike that is about 2 miles round trip from the trail head to the waterfall. It is fairly flat, only about 200 feet elevation gain.
We will stop at the waterfalls lookout for a snack (bring your own) and there will be fellowship activities suited for all ages.
Date: Saturday, June 5
Time: Meet at the trailhead at 10:00am, or at the church at 9:15am to car pool or caravan there together. (It should take about 30 minutes to get there from the church.) Let us know if you’re planning to come and we’ll watch for you!
Directions: Take the Glenn Highway to the Thunderbird Falls exit near Mile 25, the first exit north of Mirror Lake. The trailhead is less than a mile north on the Old Glenn Highway. You can also exit at Eklutna if coming southbound on the Glenn Highway: turn toward mountains and then drive south on the Old Glenn past the turnoff to Eklutna Lake. $5 fee or state parks parking pass is required. Outhouses available. Note – to return to the southbound freeway lanes from the Thunder Bird Falls parking area, turn right as you leave the parking lot, and drive 0.6 miles north on the Old Glenn Highway, crossing the Eklutna River bridget. Follow the freeway entrance signs.
