Join others at First Presbyterian Church for a five week small group study using the book: Unafraid – Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times For anyone struggling with fear, worry, or anxiety or who wonders how families and communities can live as peacemakers in a troubled world, Unafraid offers an informed and inspiring message full of practical solutions. CONTACT US for Zoom login info. You are welcome to join us even if you have not read the book.
Coronavirus Book for Children
This is a good resource to share with your children about the coronavirus. It is downloadable and a great way to continue to talk with your children about COVID-19.
Please contact the church office if you would like us to mail hard copies of any of these resources.
Your donations to First Presbyterian Church have been at work! We have been able to give financial donations to the Food Bank of Alaska, Downtown Hope Center and Bean’s Café.
We received a $2000 grant from the Yukon Presbytery (which is supported by your donations) and were able to help meet some specific needs at the COVID-19 shelter for homeless at Sullivan/Boeke Center.
Because of your financial gifts, First Presbyterian Church is able to continue to donate to the agencies in our community who are supporting the most vulnerable. One of the agencies we are supporting is Bean’s Café/The Children’s Lunchbox. The Children’s Lunchbox is providing dinners and a snack each day to all children, as well as a pantry box for a family of four.
Many of you have been asking “What can I do” during this time.
We all want to be doing something to support the most vulnerable. Even though it might seem the best way to help is by doing hands on service we often need to be reminded that one of the best things each of us can do right now is to limit our exposure to others.
With this in mind, here are ways you can help:
Food Bank of Alaska: volunteers can sign up to help with Box Builds (limited to ten people each shift) as the food bank is now giving out boxes of food to people instead of having them come to the warehouse and pick out what they need. The box builds are Monday-Friday 1-4 pm and Wednesday and Friday 9-12 noon.
Bean’s Café and The Downtown Hope Center continue to serve our neighbors and have up to date information on their websites on how to support them during this time.
F.I.S.H (Fellowship in Serving Humanity) continues to deliver food to those who are in need.
Thank you for your financial support to First Presbyterian Church. Your donations help us support the above agencies. If you would like to give a donation you can do it in two ways:
1. Send a check to First Presbyterian Church, 616 W 10th Ave., Anchorage, AK 99501
2. Give Online
